Visit from Grandma

It's so hard living away from family, but we always enjoy our visits. Grandma Linda came for a few days and we played, swam, shopped, and relaxed. She was my roommate while Adam was away on a business trip. It was so nice to have some company and extra help with Leila. Plus Leila got some snuggles with Grandma. Double bonus!

Quiet, Calm Baby....I think NOT.

We enjoy our daughter so much. She is blossoming into a fun, energetic baby that always flashes a smile at everyone she meets. Does she ever stop moving, yelling, growling, or exploring? Umm, maybe when she's sleeping! She loves noise, and loves to know she is the one making the noise. Along with the banging, she yells. She has two active parents and somehow doesn't stand a chance at being calm. As a baby I was into everything. I think she's paying me back for all the exhaustion I caused my Mother and Father when I was young. Maybe baby #2 will be a little calmer because she is all the energy I can handle! She's our sweet wild child!

Another day on the Lake

We went out yesterday for a quick family day on the lake. We were only out for a couple hours before it was naptime. Leila loves the boat and spending time with her Yia Yia and Papou. Someday we'll teach her how to ski and wakeboard.

Frogs and Pollywogs

So proud of our little swimmer. She came along way over the last two weeks and really loved being in the water. I loved watching her progress and watching her smile and wave after coming up out of the water. I love being her Mommy!

River Girl

Leila's had such a great time playing with her cousins who came to visit from Santa Barbara for the week. We had cooler weather this weekend so we went down to the lake, set up shade and played down in the sand while Adam took Cousin Adam and Elleney on the jet ski. Our little girl loves sand, water, and being outdoors.

Our Little Tadpole

We decided to put our little girl in swim lessons at the local aquatic center here in Havasu. She started this week and swam Mon-Thurs from 5:15 to 5:45. She is in the Tadpole/Frog class. There is a 6 month old baby in her class and all the rest are 1-3 years old. Leila has always loved the water. She loves to splash, kick laugh, and yell. We love it as parents because once she is done, she takes great naps and sleeps well at night. Although she is only 9 months, I think it's important to start early. We live around pools, and the lake and I really want her learn to go under the water, kick, and float so that she isn't afraid and learns water safety. The lesson have gone very well and we are proud of her progress. She had a great first day, fussed the second day and had an impressive 3rd day where she swam under the water a few times, kicked a lot and floated with the instructor holding her head with one finger. She didn't cry at all, and left there smiling and laughing as if she was proud of herself. I'm glad we have stuck with it. It would have been easy to give up after her rough 2nd day of crying, but she has made progress and as parents we are very proud. Hopefully week two goes just as well!

Next week I hope to get some action shots of her in the water.
